Paris Fashion Week: Fall 2010 (02)

Louis Vuitton: Yes, Marc Jacobs celebrated all things hourglass, as in '60s-era sweethearts with a tinge of sex appeal thanks to some low-cut, bustier-like bodices. This wasn't tawdry or gratuitous though, but rather a celebration of real curves encased in very, very pretty clothes.

Louis Vuitton: Skirts in menswear fabrics and lacier frills fell in swinging A-lines from high, tight waists. Even coats with exaggerated lapels featured a nipped-in silhouette

Louis Vuitton: What made it modern was the mix of texture and print — a loosely knitted sweater over a crinkled silk skirt, a tufted top against a large corduroy skirt, and so on.

Louis Vuitton: It's fitting, then, that such a voluptuous runway should close with an appearance by Elle "The Body" Macpherson.

Just when you think Karl Lagerfeld can't top himself (giant carousel, anyone?), he does just that — with incredible élan at that. For his fall collection, a wintry thesis on chunky knits and chic faux fur, he hauled in a bona-fide iceberg. (Reports have it weighing a mere 265 tons.)
